A woman in Pakistan faced a harrowing experience when she was mobbed for wearing a kurta adorned with Arabic prints, mistaken by some as Quranic verses. The incident occurred at a restaurant in Lahore, where the crowd demanded she remove her kurta.
The police were called to the scene to intervene and rescue the woman. A video shared by the police depicted the woman covering her face amidst the commotion, and a female officer, Syeda Shehrbano Naqvi, played a crucial role in calming the situation and escorting the woman out of the restaurant.
Ms. Naqvi explained that the woman had gone shopping with her husband, wearing a kurta with Arabic writings that led to the confusion. In an attempt to defuse the tension, she urged the crowd not to resort to violence.

The woman was later taken to the police station, where she apologized for unintentionally hurting religious sentiments. She clarified that her choice of the kurta was solely based on its design, with no intention to offend anyone’s religious beliefs.
